Research
Dr. Thomas has served as principal investigator in clinical trials of novel medical devices, intracoronary imaging and diagnostic technologies for coronary artery disease. His clinical and academic interests include acute care cardiology and catheter-based treatment for cardiovascular diseases. He has ongoing research interests in cardiac arrest, acute MI systems of care and investigational interventional therapies.
Biography
Dr. Joseph Thomas is a Health Sciences Professor in the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine and Kouichi R. Tanaka Endowed Chair of the Department of Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He practices as an Interventional Cardiologist, Director of Interventional Cardiology and Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at Harbor-UCLA.
Dr. Thomas is a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed Medicine and chief residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. After general and interventional cardiology fellowships at Harbor-UCLA and Good Samaritan Hospital, he has remained on full-time faculty at Harbor-UCLA with additional clinical privileges at Los Angeles County’s MLK-OPC and Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center.
