Programs We Offer

South Los Angeles Health Projects

South Los Angeles Health Projects (SLAHP) has been steadfast in its mission to elevate the health and well-being of families residing in South Los Angeles. Our commitment to delivering comprehensive nutrition education, evidence-backed breastfeeding/chestfeeding guidance, community referrals, and vaccination advocacy has significantly addressed the health requirements of the families we serve. SLAHP remains devoted to enhancing health outcomes through educational initiatives and empowering families to embrace healthier living practices.

Women, Infants, and Children Program

The Lundquist Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program — California’s third largest WIC — operates across 11 locations in South Los Angeles, serving over 63,700 participants each month. For over 50 years, the WIC Program has been a cornerstone of maternal and child health. We offer vital support through the provision of nutritious supplemental foods, comprehensive nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to essential healthcare and social services.

Community Engagement and Research Program (CERP)

The mission of the Community Engagement and Research Program (CERP) is to foster strong partnerships between the community and The Lundquist Institute researchers, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center clinicians, and staff. Together, we aim to support and advance research that makes a positive impact on the lives of people in Los Angeles County.

Science and Your Health

The Lundquist Institute hosts monthly talks that are designed to enhance community awareness of important health topics while showcasing the expertise and innovative research of our investigators. This series is now even more intentional on enhancing public understanding of critical healthcare issues, promoting awareness of disease prevention strategies, and shedding light on advances in public health that have the potential to improve lives.
