Join us in-person or online on Thursday, April 9, 2026 for an insightful discussion by TLI Investigator Joel D. Kopple, MD on protein-energy wasting in chronic kidney disease.
There are many causes for protein-energy wasting (PEW) in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Malnutrition is only one of the causes. PEW not only leads to wasting of body protein, fat and carbohydrates; it is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Moreover, PEW often occurs early in the course of progressive CKD, during stage 3B and 4 CKD. Nutritional therapy can attenuate or correct PEW in CKD patients and also appears to reduce their mortality rate.
Whether you’re a patient, caregiver, healthcare professional, or simply curious about the science behind kidney health, this talk offers a valuable opportunity to learn from an expert in the field.
