Dr. Yee’s research focuses on childhood obesity and its complications including diabetes, especially among populations who experience health disparities.
Biography
After completing a T32-supported fellowship in pediatric endocrinology, Dr. Jennifer Yee’s career as a faculty member initially focused on prenatal programming of childhood obesity through UCLA/NIH K12 and NIH K23 Career Development Awards, using a metabolomics approach. Since then, she has served as the PI of projects related to implementation of interventions for obesity.
Dr. Yee has engaged in collaborations through the national Pediatric Obesity Weight Evaluation Registry (POWER) to study health outcomes among patients receiving multidisciplinary clinic services for obesity. Recently, she served as the site PI for a multicenter app-based intervention study. Prior to that, she served as the PI of a grant from UniHealth Foundation that supported establishment of a weight management clinic at Harbor-UCLA. Dr. Yee is committed to addressing obesity and diabetes among children and adolescents in South Los Angeles.
