Research
Dr. Monique Holguin focuses on pediatric systems transformation and integrated care models that address the economic and social determinants of health to advance health equity for children and families. Her work includes the implementation, evaluation, and continuous evolution of community-partnered, technology-augmented social care interventions that align family-facing service systems, increase program uptake, and improve health outcomes.
Dr. Holguin’s research emphasizes the co-design and implementation of pediatric care transformation models that center parent and caregiver voice, promote early relational health, and support two-generational health and well-being. She applies community-based participatory action research methods to ensure that interventions are responsive to community priorities and lived experience.
Additional areas of focus include child and family mental health and well-being, as well as generating evidence on the impact, scalability, and sustainability of pediatric care transformation models. Across her work, Dr. Holguin seeks to advance understanding of structural and policy challenges and opportunities to improve population health equity, particularly for families in economically marginalized and racially minoritized communities.
