Research
Dr. Lue’s research interest is in hormonal regulation of spermatogenesis, male fertility preservation and male contraception development. His research has demonstrated that:
1) progestin mediated through the progesterone receptor has direct inhibitory action on spermatogenesis;
2) testicular hyperthermia increases male germ cell apoptosis and accelerates hormonal deprivation induced suppression of spermatogenesis;
3) XXY mouse model is an experimental model for men with Klinefelter syndrome;
4) mitochondrial derived peptide humanin protects male germ cells from apoptosis; and
5) user-controlled sperm concentration test is a simple and convenient method to monitor the suppression of spermatogenesis in hormonal male contraception.
