As a statistician of the proposed grant proposal, Dr. Pak facilitates multidisciplinary research efforts through statistical consulting on all statistical aspects of the study including strategic input on developing research designs data management, monitoring data collections, preliminary and post-data analyses, and interpretation of the results, and preparation of manuscripts.
Biography
As a biostatistician with appointments in academic institutes, Dr. Youngju Pak has dedicated efforts to both collaborative research and teaching for the past 15 years. Currently, she has been working as a lead biostatistician at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center since 2013, assiting on projects led by key CTSI investigators at The Lundquist Institute.
These activities include transferring research questions into quantitative hypotheses, developing the appropriate study design, determining appropriate sample sizes, developing the appropriate data analysis plan based on the research questions, writing the study method section, and reviewing a research proposal.
In addition, Dr. Pak has conducted data analysis, interpretation of the results, and writing statistical methods sections for research papers. Through her collaborative research efforts, she’s helped to write more than 20 collaborative research proposals, with a proposed total budget of over $2 million.
Dr. Pak also provides statistical consulting for more than 100 projects with investigators representing more than 20 divisions, departments, or schools at The Lundquist Institute, as well as statistical education through regular lecture series and seminars to researchers (faculty, trainees, and professional staff) on principals and applications of biostatistics. These educational services also include individualized mentorship for junior faculty members and fellows.
