Dong Chang, MD is a health services researcher with an interest in improving the quality of care in intensive care units (ICUs). In particular, he has an interest in improving communication and shared decision-making particularly around potentially non-beneficial ICU treatments. Dr. Chang uses implementation science and community-partnered approaches to improve ICU care in healthcare systems.

Biography

Dr. Dong Chang received an B.A. in Communication Studies and an MD from UCLA. He completed his residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center School of Medicine and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Washington. He also received a Masters in Clinical Research at UCLA. Dr. Chang is the Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and the Director of Critical Care Services at Los Angeles General Medical Center. His research program, which seeks to improve the quality of care for patients with advanced critical illnesses, has been funded by National Academy of Sciences (NAS), the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
