Research

Charles W. Lanks, MD, FCCP is an experienced clinician-scientist and educator. His primary research interest involves the application of point-of-care ultrasound to the management of critically ill patients. His team has described clinical determinants of lung sliding amplitude (LSA) in mechanically ventilated patients and continues to investigate the role of LSA variability in healthy subjects and those with chronic pulmonary disease. He also has experience in cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) in chronic disease, including pulmonary hypertension, chronic obstructive lung disease and long COVID.

Biography

Charles W. Lanks, MD, FCCP is a specialist and Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine. He is board certified in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Medicine and is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He works extensively with trainees in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in the South Bay of Los Angeles County, where he serves as Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit and the Program Director for the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship.
