Dr. Gotesman’s recent research focuses on advancing the understanding and treatment of pediatric hematologic and oncologic conditions. As Principal Investigator from 2020 to 2023, she led a study on the genetic evaluation of patients with hemoglobinopathies in collaboration with the molecular biology laboratory at the University of California, San Diego, aiming to improve diagnostic precision and personalized care.

She also served as Co-Investigator for the Pediatric Oncology COVID-19 Case (POCC) Report Consortium, where she oversaw regulatory compliance and data collection related to the impact of COVID-19 on pediatric oncology patients. Additionally, Dr. Gotesman has contributed to numerous clinical trials through the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) since 2014, supporting ongoing efforts to enhance cancer treatment outcomes in children.

Biography

Dr. Moran Gotesman is a board-certified pediatric hematologist/oncologist and Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, based at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She earned her B.S. in Biopsychology from UC Santa Barbara and completed her medical degree at the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv. Following residency at Harbor-UCLA and fellowship at CHOC, she now serves as Medical Director of both the Pediatric and Lomita Adult Sickle Cell Centers.

Dr. Gotesman is a dedicated leader in sickle cell disease care, serving as Principal Investigator for a statewide care network and spearheading interdisciplinary initiatives to improve transitions from pediatric to adult care. She is an active member of multiple professional societies and committees, contributes to peer-reviewed literature as an ad hoc reviewer, and serves on pharmaceutical advisory boards focused on advancing hematologic therapies.
