Research
Dr. DeCato conducts clinical and translational research in pulmonary medicine and exercise physiology. His research has emphasized the reproducibility, clinical utility, and interpretive strategies of both pulmonary function testing and cardiopulmonary exercise testing with the goal of improving personalized care and the lives of those with chronic respiratory diseases.
Biography
Dr. Thomas DeCato earned his B.S. in Neuroscience and M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington and a fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at the University of Utah. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. DeCato has served on committees for the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Thoracic Society in pulmonary physiology and pulmonary function testing. He is a frequent faculty member for national and international PFT and CPET courses and has been recognized as a distinguished CHEST educator. He serves on the editorial boards for CHEST and CHEST Pulmonary journals.
