New Research Executive Brings Wealth of Experience to Institute
LOS ANGELES – (August 18, 2014) – Bringing a wealth of experience in research administration, Susan D. Rubin recently joined Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute (LA BioMed) in a newly created role of chief operating officer and general counsel.
David I. Meyer, PhD, LA BioMed president and CEO, said the position is tailor-made for Ms. Rubin’s experience and the research institute’s unique needs. Ms. Rubin will be responsible or oversee some of the most important aspects of the institute’s research activities, including its grants, contracts, compliance and regulatory affairs, shared core laboratories, interdisciplinary research and global outreach.
“We are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and talented executive joining our leadership team at LA BioMed,” said Dr. Meyer. “Susan has such an impressive background in so many aspects of research administration that we created this new position to fit the extensive experience she brings to LA BioMed.”
Ms. Rubin previously served as the executive director of The Saban Research Institute at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she was responsible for leading the institute’s research operations. She also served as the managing director of California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA and as the executive officer for business and administrative services at UCLA.
