The Lundquist Institute Thanks Outgoing Board Member Dan Rosenfeld for 15+ Years of Service

Dan Rosenfeld

The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (TLI) extends its heartfelt thanks to Dan Rosenfeld for his invaluable contributions and years of dedicated service at the Institute. Dan is ‘Chair Emeritus,’ having served on our Board of Directors for over a decade.

Dan Rosenfeld co-founded Urban Partners, an urban infill, mixed-use, and transit-oriented real estate developer who led prominent downtown Los Angeles revitalization projects, including the CalTrans District 7 headquarters and University Gateway, a 1,600-bed student housing complex. Throughout his career, Dan has dedicated himself to the public sector service, working for both the State of California and the County of Los Angeles, and has been committed to philanthropic initiatives that benefit the community and the region's economic development.

During his tenure at The Lundquist Institute, Dan played a pivotal role in cultivating and recognizing the Lundquist gift by leading several key initiatives, including:

  • Spearheading the development of the Tech Park project—a 15-acre biosciences technology park at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center designed to incubate early-stage bioscience companies.
  • Leading the successful renegotiation and extension of the Institute’s ground lease agreement with the County of Los Angeles.
  • Supporting senior management transitions and refining the Institute’s By-Laws to enhance governance and operational efficiency.

At the end of his tenure, Dan said: “I am grateful, as a non-subject matter expert, to have participated in the Institute’s wonderful scientific activities over these many years… the greatest benefit for me has been the pleasure of working with other outside directors and investigators at the Institute and supporting their important work.”

"Dan Rosenfeld's leadership and unwavering dedication have left an indelible mark on The Lundquist Institute,” said Mitchel Sayare, PhD, Chair of The Lundquist Institute’s Board of Directors. “His strategic vision and tireless commitment to advancing our mission have been instrumental in shaping the Institute’s future. Dan's contributions have positioned us for continued success, from his pivotal role in the Tech Park initiative to his efforts in strengthening our governance structure. We are deeply grateful for his years of service and passion for innovation and community impact."

Dan Rosenfeld continues his role as the Director of Land Use Solutions at Community Partners, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that works to launch and grow creative solutions to community challenges. He will continue to play a key role in shaping the development of the TLI Tech Park project. The Institute is deeply grateful for Dan’s unwavering support and leadership.
